NikahRegister.co.za — How It Works

Everything you need to know about the SAMNET Muslim Marriage Register — for couples, Masaajid, and community members.

The Register

What is NikahRegister.co.za?

NikahRegister.co.za is South Africa's first centralised digital register for Muslim marriages (Nikah). Operated by SAMNET, it provides Masaajid across all nine provinces with a secure, permanent digital record for every Nikah they perform — replacing vulnerable paper registers.

Every registered Nikah receives a unique reference number (e.g. NR-2024-KZN-00142) that appears on the printed certificate and can be used to verify the marriage at any time.

Important: Records on this system are Islamic community records only and are not equivalent to civil marriage registration with the Department of Home Affairs. For full civil law protection, couples should also register with Home Affairs.
وَمِنْ آيَاتِهِ أَنْ خَلَقَ لَكُم مِّنْ أَنفُسِكُمْ أَزْوَاجًا لِّتَسْكُنُوا إِلَيْهَا
"And of His signs is that He created for you from yourselves mates that you may find tranquillity in them."
